The Day Before.

Today was a kitchen sort of day.
{Raise your hand if you spent some serious time in yours, too? I thought so!}

So of course where there is marathon cooking, there is also this:

Aack! My aching dishpan hands!

I made one old favorite...

and a couple of new-to-me recipes.
(Including my grandmother's marshmallow dip recipe. On my first attempt, I stupidly forgot to temper the egg whites before adding the boiling sugar so I ended up with marshmallow-flavored scrambled egg whites. Mmm!)

And of course (like always) I had some help.

And, yes...doesn't it look so picture-perfect here?

Be glad there are no pictures (or videos) or me screaming at the boys later in the afternoon for their non-stop wrestling/play-fighting/crying-because-someone-got-hurt-from-the-horseplay-after-I-told-them-to-stop-482 times.

{Cleansing breath.}

But...I'm still thankful. Even for that chaos.
And for the messes as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
I'll be at the sink if you need me.

hands down; spent NO time in the kitchen today (that's the benefit of going to relatives to celebrate)

LOL with the dishes! I'm sure they are all done and you are safely tucked in bed by now

When I was growing up, my mom and sister always baked a lot around the holidays; I always remember the sink being full of dirty dishes

perhaps that is why I don't bake (or cook for that matter)

enjoy Thanksgiving! enjoy it! don't spend all day in the kitchen but enjoy it with your family :)

So glad that's over! I share your life also for the last two days. Didn't take pics of the dishes in the sink though! Just the food dishes in progress! Your brave!

Looks like a feast in the making. This year we went to a friend's house, so my sink stayed in tack -- at least by our standards.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the Honest and humerous account of "The Day Before". We all know its not always so serene as some would like us to believe.
I give thanks for bloggers like you that tell it like it is and make me feel normal.

This year Thanksgiving was at my parents, and although I did cook the mess didn't get that bad, but I hear you, my sink will look like that on Christmas it will be at our house!Hope you guys had an awesome Thanksgiving!

Yeah dishes. Every year when we all draw straws for the sink full, we swear we're going out next year. But of course we never do. Enjoy the rest of the Holiday weekend!
