Sometimes when the laundry is piled on the couch and the bathrooms are begging to be cleaned and I'm feeling overwhelmed, I have to get out of the house.
Just for an hour.
Even though I know I have a million things that need to be done...we go.
I know that there won't be many more years where she and I will get to take spontaneous 10am trips to the park.

We had the park to ourselves.

And I watched this girl whose legs are getting long, who no longer really needs help climbing up the ladder, and I think it's going too fast.

We sat in the sand and we talked about sandcastles and pine cones and digging and Pooh bear (we talk about him a lot), and never once mentioned laundry or mopping or bills or paperwork or needing to exercise more.
And we laughed and I wished she would stay this age forever.
After an hour we came home.
And the laundry was still on the couch. (Some of it still is.)
But it was ok.
Because folding the laundry wasn't worth missing out on the conversation about sandcastles.

So very true... enjoy it.. it goes way to fast.
No way! I miss the warm weather that allowed us to go to the park every day! What will we do all winter? Certainly not LAUNDRY (mine's currently on the couch, too)!
Great pics!
I don't know what it is about the couch that draws laundry to it. Mine is currently there too waiting to be folded.
Conversations about sandcastles are worth missing most things!
Very true! Time goes by very fast:(
this made me cry because it is sooo true......these days will not last SO ENJOY THEM and forget about the laundry and the bathrooms being scrubbed etc. Those will still be waiting no matter what, no matter when. you keep building those sandcastles and spending time with them (and if I lived closer, I'd come and fold your laundry, really would :)
(and I hate folding laundry)
betty
I don't really want them to get bigger.. And I have to say that 2ish was a great age for both R and K. Avery's hair always looks so cute.
It does go to fast! Great photos!
Awww, your post almost made me cry. It does go WAY too fast. I can't believe how fast my 3 yr old is growing. *Sigh*
My grandmother gives me the best advice when she tells me her biggest regret is "wishing away"her children's younger years. I try very hard not to do that.
Going to the park is a wonderful break
what a fun getaway!:) Cute post, just looking at my 8 yr old makes me realize how fast time flies by
You aer so right! Housework will always be there. Childhood is fleeting. enjoy every moment!
I love this post! Its so true. The laundry will always be there. What wonderful memories you are making.
So so true! I love the photos too!
I love your blog. I've been reading for awhile, but this is the first time commenting. Your photography is beautiful and your children are adorable. As a mother of grown children, I know you will never be sorry for abandoning the laundry for a day at the park. You impress me as a young mother who really has her priorities straight.
Oh I love this post and it does go so fast.
Her hair is getting so long!! She is such a doll.
Laundry sits on my couch too. It just seems like a good place until I can fold it.
